Principles of Great Design
Simple
When you are trying to solve a problem a lot of people’s first thought is a complex and convoluted one, however if you keep at it and live with the problem a more elegant and intuitive solution presents itself. This is the first step in lasting design. Simple and elegant solutions will outlive the hurried and saturated design every time. Benefits to this way of designing are a cleaner looking design and a design that will not have to be updated as often, saving you money.
Several key factors go into good design. In my opinion, simplicity would be the first of them.
Standards
If you are at all familiar with the web world you have heard about web standards. All web standards is referring to is the idea of creating websites and applications that can be used on a vast array of browsers and devices. Make these websites and applications usable and functional for everyone and everything.
Themes
Themes are an important aspect to any WordPress or Drupal site. Without a well-designed theme, you will look like thousands of other sites out there that uses the free theme that comes with every Wordpress or Drupal installation.
Photography & Illustration
If you have paroosed this site you might have read that I have a BFA in Design and Photography. So if you need custom photography, lets talk about it. I have done everything from architecture to children’s portraits and the bottom line is Photoshop is our friend.
